About the Market

The Veneta Downtown Farmers Market was founded by Marie Pickett in the spring of 2007 with the goal of providing a place where the residents of Fern Ridge could gather to enjoy the fruits (and vegetables!) of the soil of this region and the talent of its creative artisans.  Since its birth, the market has lifted up all those in our community who make, grow, and raise bounty and beauty in the shadow of the Coast Range.

"The mission is simple; local food to local people”
-Marie Pickett, founder of the VDFM

In the winter of 2018-2019 the Veneta Downtown Farmers Market became a program of the Fern Ridge Community Action Network a local 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.  The market chose to forge this partnership in order to bring more community programming to Fern Ridge, expand our nutrition assistance programs, do more for the economic development of our vendors and create a sustainable future so the market can serve our community for years to come.  As a nonprofit organization, the market can now accept tax deductible donations.  If you are interested in supporting our program work or being part of the growth of the market, please contact the market director at venetadfm@gmail.com.
